Call to Worship
Leader: Come, out of your busy lives to a quiet time and place.
People: Our souls thirst for some peace and quiet.
Leader: Come, and rest in the Lord who will restore your souls.
People: Our lives need moments of rest.
Leader: Come and find the quiet center. Come and be at peace.
All: Let us worship the God who offers us shelter and rest.
Hymn 366 “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”
Prayer of Confession (unison)
Patient God, these summer months are supposed to be a time when we can rest and relax. Our schedules change from the demands of weekly living to times that are supposed to be devoted to leisure. But we have redefined leisure to mean a flurry of activities. We need some time to rest, to sit quietly and listen to the beautiful sounds of the world. Forgive us when we crowd every moment of our lives with activity. Help us find a quiet place with you where we can just relax without the need to get everything done as though life was some sort of contest. Give us peace, even if it’s just for a little while. Refresh our souls so that we can serve you, not out of exhaustion, but out of enthusiasm. This we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Leader: God is merciful and slow to anger.
People: God forgives our sins and renews our spirits.
Leader: Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel,
All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and set free. Thanks be to God!
Sharing the Peace of Christ
Leader: In this place, the peace of God draws us in and unites us as God’s people. Here, everyone is welcome and everyone has a place. I invite you to extend symbols of Christ’s peace and love to one another with a wave, a smile, a peace sign, or whatever you are comfortable with. In these signs, God’s beloved community becomes real and we are reminded that we are one family, God’s family. So let us extend peace and love to each other. May the peace of Christ be with you all.
People: And also with you!

Offering Prayer (unison)
God, receive these tithes, gifts and offerings as symbols of our desire to live in peace with all creation. Use them and use us as witnesses to the over-coming power of Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.

The Installation Service for Pastor Jim is Saturday, August 7, at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary. Following the installation service an Open House Welcome Reception will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in the Social Hall to officially welcome the Langley family to FPC. Because of Covid restrictions we were unable to celebrate sooner. You are invited to the service, or if you prefer, drop in to the Open House.
Computer Tables from the Computer Lab are no longer needed and are free for the taking! Three long ones and one shorter one are in the hallway outside the Nursery. If you would like one, you may either take it with you today, or put your name on one (or more) and arrange pick up later.
