Hello there,
It is time for the fall shift in schedule. This Sunday we will go back to two worship services. Our traditional service will be at the usual time of 9:00, with the Chancel Choir back from their summer hiatus. The third graders will receive their Bibles and 3 year-olds their nursery lambs at the first service. Sunday School for all ages will begin at 10:15. Our Synergy service, with the praise team, begins at 11:15. The text for this Sunday is Luke 14:25-33, and my sermon title is “Ready for Liftoff?”
Also, we are trying to start up a book club, and an initial meeting exploring what kinds of books people might be interested in, and when would be a good time to meet, will be held in between services on Sunday, at 10:15, in the library.
LOGOS begins next Wednesday, September 11, and we need some more volunteers. LOGOS is a ministry that meets from 5:15 pm to 7:00 p.m. for children and youth in 1st through 8th grades. Each week the children spend time in Recreation, Worship Skills, Bible Study and a Family Dinner. Dinner is served family style at table with members of the congregation serving at table parents. At LOGOS children learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ where we are all created in the image of God and we are all children of God. It is a wonderful ministry that touches the lives of many young people. If you think you might be willing to help, contact Pastor Beth or Danyel Kolek.
Finally, there is a women’s retreat coming up on next Saturday, September 14, entitled “Live Life Laughingly.” It sounds like a lot of fun, but if you are interested in going you need to sign up by next Tuesday, September 10th. Contact Pastor Beth for more information.
Stay in One Peace,
Howard
