I am excited about Sunday, my first Sunday with you. The sermon is titled “Ain’t Nobody Prayin’ for Me” and the texts are below. Ginny and I look forward to meeting you at the reception. Then seek out the discussion of The Prodigal God or join the Coffee Chat in the Lounge. Come, too, to the family meal Wednesday at 5:30.

Genesis 1:1-5
When God began to create the heavens and the earth
the earth was without shape or form, it was dark over the deep sea, and God’s wind swept over the waters—God said, “Let there be light.” And so light appeared. God saw how good the light was. God separated the light from the darkness. God named the light Day and the darkness Night. There was evening and there was morning: the first day.
John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word
and the Word was with God
and the Word was God.
The Word was with God in the beginning.
Everything came into being through the Word,
and without the Word
nothing came into being.
What came into being
through the Word was life,
and the life was the light for all people.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness doesn’t extinguish the light
