First and foremost: Come to church on Sunday. I will be preaching. My text is Philippians 4:1-9 and my sermon title is: Standing Firm Together. In the first service, our young people from 3rd through 8th grade will be singing under the direction of Marilyn Rambo. Worship is always what is most important, but I would like to remind you of a few other things that are going on.
Bring your pledge card to worship on Sunday. We will be collecting and consecrating our 2015 pledges as part of worship, so bring your cards with you. And please, with all humility, I am asking you to raise your pledge. I am so proud of FPC Marion. We worship, learn, grow and care for one another, while at the same time deliberately reaching out to those in need in our community. But there are always expenses, always items that cost more this year than they did last year. So please, turn in your pledge card and step out in faith by making it more than last year.
Sign up to get your picture taken for our directory. If you haven’t done so already, pick up an envelope in the back of the sanctuary with your name on it, giving you the details of what is going on. For the next three Sundays, members of the Evangelism and Membership committee will be at church to help you sign up. Or you may do so by going to our FPC Marion website, or by calling Shirley Pantini, or the church office.
Socks! Socks! Socks! We need socks! Once again it is Socktober. Summer is over and the cold weather will soon be upon us. We collect socks for the children served by Marion Cares, so that their feet will be warm in the winter. Pick up a pack of children’s socks the next time you are at Hy-Vee or Walmart and bring them to church. They will be distributed at the Marion Cares Trunk or Treat on October 25th.
Thanks for your generosity and stay in One Peace,
