Hello there,
We are a little late in getting out the word but we are doing “Socktober” once again this year. Cold weather is coming and there are children in our community who go to school even in the dead of winter, without any socks. So we collect children’s socks and pass them out at the Trunk or Treat event run by Marion Cares. The next time you are out shopping, pick up a pack of children’s socks and bring them to church. We need them by Sunday the 25th.
On Sunday, we will be offering a great new opportunity for adults. Jim Langley will be teaching a six week course on The Prodigal God. This book uses the parable of the Prodigal Son to explore how God interacts with us and welcomes us with loving arms. You do not have to have read the book to participate and get something meaningful from Jim’s teaching.
In worship, the Cherub Choir will be singing and the 3rd-6th graders will be playing the hand-bells at the first service. I will be preaching on Mark 10:17-27 and my sermon title is “Camel Contortions.”
Finally, the Navigators are going out to dinner on Sunday afternoon to the Bluff Lake Catfish Farm in Maquoketa. They will be leaving from the church parking lot at 12:30. The cost for all you can eat shrimp and chicken is $11.50. There are other items on the menu. If you are interested in joining them, contact Tony and Shirley Pantini.
Stay in One Peace!
Howard
