Weekly Contact- October 27, 2016

Hello there,

This Sunday is it! You do NOT want to miss it.  Our Celtic Heritage Sunday is here and all the plans are falling into place.  The bagpiper will be here playing outside before the service.  We will have beautiful music throughout the service, from vocal solos, to bagpipes, to choir anthems, to Celtic harps playing.  The liturgy is taken from ancient Scottish and Irish religious communities and traditions.  And just to make the whole service extra special, we will have a baptism!  It could not be any better.  We will only have one service at 9:00, but following worship there will be Sunday School, along with scones and scotcheroos served during the coffee time in the social room.  So wear something plaid, and invite a friend.

We are seekin’ a deacon. The nominating committee is looking for one last person to fill our slate of officers.  According to our Book of Order, deacons provide the mission of compassion, witness and service.  Most of the work of our deacons is with our older members as well as those who are in the hospital.  It can be very meaningful and rewarding work, serving God in a special way.  If you or someone you know might be interested contact one of the pastors, or a member of the Nominating Committee, who are:  Sue Kelly, Greg Kanz, Kari Raiche, Louise White, Charley Knudsen and Tim Schneekloth.

Finally, mark your calendar for our fall clean-up day, Saturday, November 12th, starting at 8:00 a.m.  We will be cleaning up leaves and trash around the grounds before the snow flies.  The more show up, the easier it will be, the quicker everything will get done.  So, we really need you.

Stay in One Peace,

Howard
