Weekly Contact- October 26, 2017

Hello there,

The big weekend is here, the finale of our 175th celebration!!  The Cedar Lake Seven will be putting on a wonderful concert on Saturday night at 7:00 in the sanctuary.  They are a men’s gospel choir from the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, with a delightful mix of music; everything from traditional hymns to old time gospel to bluegrass/country.  They have been with us twice before and each time has been very enjoyable.  Chaz Nove, who grew up in our church is a member of CL7 and has been key to arranging this concert.  There will be no admission charge but a free-will offering will be collected to benefit hurricane relief efforts through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.  Following the concert there will be refreshments (Kettle House cookies!) served down in the social room.

We will also have a silent auction down in the chapel, beginning on Saturday night.  A number of beautiful items have been donated, from quilts to wooden toys to gift baskets to original watercolor paintings.  Again, the money we receive from this auction will go to hurricane relief.  If you have an item you wish to donate and have not brought it in yet, please contact Pastor Beth or me as soon as possible.

Cedar Lake Seven will be providing all the special music for us in worship on Sunday morning.  We will be having just one service at 9:00.   We are continuing our Everyday Heroes sermon series.  This week we are taking a look at Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter.  The text I shall be preaching on is John 1:35-42.  The silent auction will continue in the chapel.

Then our annual Harvest Dinner for our golden members will be at 5:00.  There is still time to get you name in if you haven’t made a reservation.  Just call the church office.  You may leave a message on the voice mail if it is after hours.  If you need a ride or would like a meal delivered, let us know about that as well.  As always, the youth will be serving.  We are grateful for their efforts and especially the adults who do the cooking and get it all organized.  Your last chance to bid at the silent auction will be at the Harvest Dinner.

It will be a great weekend, and I hope you can be here for at least part of it.

Finally, the November First Press is available.  You can download a copy by clicking here.  Paper copies are available at various locations around the church building.

Stay in One Peace,
