Weekly Contact- October 2, 2014

Hello there,

Around every five years, FPC Marion puts together a picture directory and it is once again that time. We have scheduled the photographers to be with us around the week of Thanksgiving at the end of November.  We hope this will enable those families with children in college to be able to be together for a family portrait.

Now, the coordination of such a project is a bit of a challenge. With close to 500 members, obviously you can’t have everyone showing up at the same time to have their picture taken.   So over the next few weeks, you will be hearing about the directory and how you can sign up for an appointment.  You can basically do it three ways.  You can go to our website (www.fpcmarion.org ) and there is a link called “Portrait Scheduling” that will allow you to set up an appointment.  Or you can sign up with one of the members of the Evangelism and Membership committee at church on three Sundays in October, the 12th, 19th, and 26th. A third way would be to contact Shirley Pantini or the church office.

If you will be out of town during the portrait sessions, there are still ways in which you can be in the directory. There will be more information about this on a bulletin insert this Sunday as well as an in an envelope we would like you to pick up in the back of the sanctuary.

This is also the time of year when we are thinking about stewardship and next year’s budget. By now, you should have received a letter with a pledge card and information about your financial commitment.  Keep in mind that Consecration Sunday will be a bit earlier this year, October 12.  Please bring your pledge card with you on that Sunday.

This Sunday is a special day as we will be celebrating World Wide Communion. Our adult Chancel Bell Choir will be playing under the guidance of their new director, Michelle Waymire.  I will be preaching, and the text I have chosen is the Old Testament lectionary passage for this week, Exodus 20:1-20, the Ten Commandments.  It is an ancient story, told and retold, but very relevant to us to day.  You won’t want to miss it.

In the meantime, stay in One Peace,
