First off, once again we had a great response to Socktober, collecting socks for Marion Cares. THANK YOU to all who donated socks this year! These socks will be distributed at the Marion Cares’ Trunk or Treat event, next Monday the 23rd and Tuesday the 24th. We need someone to help with the distribution on Monday night. We have someone for Tuesday. It will be from 5:30 to 7:00 at Marion Village, across the road from Hy-Vee. If you can help, contact Pastor Beth.
If you are not around the church building on Wednesday nights, you are probably not aware of all the good stuff going on. Our LOGOS program does all sorts of wonderful things with children and youth, from Bible study to games to a sit down supper we share together. One of the things we try to teach is worship skills, being a part of the worshipping life of our church. This coming Sunday, at the first service, the LOGOS kids will take part in leading in worship. Kindergartners through 5th graders will provide our introit. Middle School youth will do the children’s time. Kindergartners through 2nd graders will be doing the Call for the Offering, while the 3rd through 5th will collect it. We are very proud of their efforts and grateful for the adult leaders who have been so helpful.
The Chancel Choir will also be singing at the first service, and we will be continuing our Everyday Heroes sermon series. This week Pastor Beth is preaching about Deborah, and her text is Judges 4:4-16.
We are a week and half away from our big weekend. On Saturday, October 28th at 7:00, the Cedar Lake 7, a men’s gospel group, will be in concert in our sanctuary. We will also be kicking off our silent auction in the social room. Both the concert and the auction will benefit hurricane relief. The Cedar Lake 7 will be with us in worship on Sunday the 29th. Then on the evening of the 29th the youth will put on our Harvest Dinner for our Golden Members. The silent auction will wrap up on that night. It will be a great time and you won’t want to miss it.
Stay in One Peace,
