Weekly Contact- October 18, 2018

Hello there,

In the Gazette this morning it said the fall colors are almost at peak.  I don’t know about the rest of the state, but the tree beside the church parking lot is about perfect.  I hope you are enjoying some of the beauty of God’s creation.

I will be talking about creation in my sermon this week based upon an interesting passage from the book of Job, chapter 38, verses 1-7 and 34-41.  My sermon title is “Caught Up in the Mystery.”  The Chancel Bells will be playing at the first service, and we will have a great little puppet show and song put on by the children.

We want to remind you of Socktober.  Once again we are collecting socks for the Marion Cares Trunk or Treat event.  Pick up a pack of socks the next time you are out shopping and bring them in this Sunday.  Actually, Marion Cares is looking for new children’s coats, scarves, mittens, hats, underwear, in addition to socks.  So if you would like to donate any of those items as well, that would be fantastic!

We also want to remind you that a week from Sunday, October 28th is a big day at FPC.  It is Celtic Sunday with one service in the morning at 9:00.  We will have a bagpiper and Celtic hymns, prayers and liturgy.  So wear something plaid and join the fun.

Then at 5:00 that evening we are having our annual Harvest Dinner served up by our youth for our retirees.  It is always great fun with plenty to eat.  There is no charge but donations will benefit the youth summer mission trips.  If you haven’t made your reservations yet, please call the office.

Stay in One Peace,

Howard
