This Sunday the Chancel Bell Choir will be playing in the first service. Pastor Beth will be preaching and her text will be Mark 10:35-45. Her sermon title is “Love All, Serve All.” We also we be starting off our fall stewardship campaign this Sunday. Our theme this year is “Imagine! It’s Worth It!” Each week for the next four weeks, we will present a video featuring different members of the congregation imagining what the future of our church might be like and why it is worth it to support our church financially. You also should be receiving a letter in the mail, with a pledge card and some important information about our church finances.
It will be a great time in worship this week, as always. But be sure to mark you calendar and make every effort to be in church next Sunday, October 25th. We will be celebrating our Celtic heritage. The Presbyterian Church began in Scotland, but our roots are also influenced by other Celtic people, including the Irish and Welsh. So on that Sunday both worship services will have a Celtic flavor. We are planning on opening with a procession led by bagpipes, use Celtic prayers and liturgy and sing Celtic hymns. The Chancel Choir is preparing some Celtic pieces, and Karen Pierce will be playing some beautiful Celtic tunes on her hammer dulcimer. We also will have music by “Young at Harp” a Celtic harp group. So whether or not you have Scot, Irish, Welsh, or Cornish ancestors, you are encouraged to wear something plaid, if you have it; a tartan tie, skirt, jacket or whatever you can find to show your Celtic pride.
Also on that Sunday the 25th, we will be having our annual Harvest Dinner. The Middle School and Senior High youth invite all the senior citizens in our congregation for a delicious, sit-down dinner. If you are planning on attending, it would be helpful if you got your RSVP by Wednesday.
Finally, we are continuing to collect socks for Socktober, so pick up a pack and bring them on Sunday.
Stay in One Peace,
