Weekly Contact- November 6, 2014

Hello there,

First off, our website is back up and functioning. It was down for around five days.  You may not have been aware that, but this is why you did not receive Weekly Contact last week.  I tried to remind you to set your clocks back before worship on Sunday, but it would appear someone else got through with the message.  Also, the November First Press is available.  You may check it out by clicking here.  If you would like a paper copy they are available at various locations around the church building.

While I could not send out the Weekly Contact through our website, I did, as always, post it on our FPC Marion FaceBook page. If you are not yet following that page and would like to check it out, click here.

This Sunday the Middle Schoolers and the Rainbow Bells will be providing our special music. My sermon text is Matthew 25:1-13, which is a rather troubling passage.  So my sermon title is “What Went Wrong with the Wedding Parable.”

As always there is a lot of other stuff going on. A “Taste of the Cookbook” is scheduled between services this Sunday.  You will have the opportunity to have a very small taste of several recipes contained in the cookbook.  Be sure to come to the Social Hall between services for a taste of the cookbook!  Cookbooks will be on sale in the Social Hall today for $12.50 each.

Veterans’ Day is coming up, and if you are a veteran, you and your spouse are invited to dinner at 6:30 on Wednesday evening, November 12th,  with the children and youth of our LOGOS program.  Please bring or wear any part of your uniform.  It would be helpful if you contacted Pastor Beth or the church office before November 10.

Mark your calendar to attend the Joyful Noises Concert, Friday November 14th, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.  Proceeds from this concert benefit Family Promise of Linn County.

Finally, there will be a congregational meeting a week from Sunday, November 16th, following the first service for the purpose of electing officers.

Stay in One Peace,
