Weekly Contact– May 21, 2015

Hello there,

WEAR RED!  WEAR RED! WEAR RED!  It is Pentecost Sunday, so dig out your red shirt or blouse and celebrate with us.  It will be a busy Sunday.  We will be shifting to our summer schedule, so there will be only one service at 9:00.  As usual, we will be honoring members of our congregation who have reached milestones in their years as members.  And since it is Pentecost, what better day to add to our membership?  Two individuals will be joining.  For our special music, Alex Chapman will be singing a favorite, “On Eagle’s Wings.”  I will be preaching on Exodus 19:3-5 and Acts 2:1-8, 12-18.  My sermon title is “Voice, Breath, Spirit.”

I have mentioned my “Pizza and Painting with the Pastor” in previous posts.  That begins tonight (Thursday, May 21st).  If you would like to attend, you are most welcome, even if you did not sign up.

Summer is upon us and that means opportunities to serve.  We will be helping again with FLY lunches.  This ministry provides bag lunches for children who normally receive free lunches at school.  During vacations these children often go hungry.  If you are interested in helping, there is a sign-up sheet in the social room.

Marion Cares is looking for volunteers to help with their summer program.  If you are interested or would like more information, contact Pastor Beth.

And if it is summer, it means that Vacation Bible School is coming up soon, June 15-19.  We will be doing something different this year.  The staff from Camp Wyoming will be running the program and it will go all day, from 9:00 to 3:00.  Children from completed kindergarten through 5th grade are welcome.  Sign up in the social room.Iris

Finally, I included this picture of one of the irises outside our Mission House.  Judy Weber has done an outstanding job with the flowers and lawns around the church.  If you see her sometime, be sure to thank her.

Stay in One Peace,
