Hello there,
We will be back to two services this Sunday, at 9:00 and then at 11:00, and we will have two services for May 5th, 12th and 19th. Then on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, May 26th, we will start our summer schedule of one service at 10:00. Session has voted to have the single service at 10:00 throughout the summer, because it is highly likely that there will be a month or two after I retire before the interim pastor arrives. During that time pulpit supply preachers will be filling in on Sunday mornings. These preachers could be traveling some distances, from places like Iowa City or Dubuque, and having worship start at 10:00 will give them more travel time on a Sunday morning. Session is still considering what the worship schedule will be like in September.
This Sunday will be a good one. We are welcoming the five young people from the confirmation class into full adult membership. This is my last confirmation class and I have to say, I couldn’t be prouder of them. Each one is an absolute delight. I would urge you to come and be a part of the celebration welcoming them into the church.
We will be celebrating the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, and the Chancel Choir will be singing at the first service. The text will be John 21:1-14 and my sermon title is “Fishing for Satisfaction.”
Ladies, just a reminder of the PW Salad luncheon this coming Saturday, May 4th at 12:00
Finally, the May issue of the First Press is out. You can click here to download your copy. Paper copies are available at various locations around the church building.
Stay in One Peace,
Howard
