It is PENTECOST SUNDAY coming up, so wear something RED!! This week will be our final Sunday with two services. Starting next week, we will have one service at 9:00 until Labor Day. But we have a good Sunday coming up, that you won’t want to miss. In addition to celebrating Pentecost, members of the confirmation class will be welcomed into full membership at the first service. There will a reception to follow in celebration. It will also be the last Sunday for the summer that Chancel Choir will be singing. Pastor Beth is preaching. Her text is Acts 2:1-21 and her sermon title is “Field of Dreams.” We also will be celebrating with Holy Communion at both services.
Just as a reminder, once again there are a number of ways you can be involved, acting out our mission of “Internally nurturing, externally serving.” The week of May 27th to June 2nd we will be teaming up with Echo Hill Presbyterian church to host a homeless family through Family Promise. We need help with preparing and hosting meals, and staying overnight at Echo Hill. If you are interested, contact Pastor Beth.
Vacation Bible School will be June 4th to 8th from 5:30 to 7:30. We have had a number of people sign up to help, and we are very grateful, but there are some slots left to fill. If you would be willing to help, there is a sign up in the social room.
The FLY lunch program will begin the first week in June. We will be making and distributing sack lunches to hungry children in our community on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Our first day will be June 6th. If you can lend a hand, again there is a sign up in the social room.
Finally, again a reminder that there will be only one service starting Sunday, May 27th, and on that Sunday we will bother welcome new members and honor those who have reached milestones in membership. That is always a great Sunday.
Stay in One Peace,
