Weekly Contact– May 1, 2014

Hello there,

Happy May Day!  Hopefully flowers will soon be blooming.

The May First Press is available.  You may download it by clicking here.  Paper copies will be available around the church building.

If you do not have any plans for supper (or if you do, change them) stop by the Pizza Ranch in Marion sometime between 4:30 and 8:00.  The FPC Youth will be bussing tables during that time and any tips they collect will go towards their summer mission trip.  So stop by, have all the pizza you can eat, and drop a big tip on the table.  Tell your friends and neighbors about this.  You don’t have to be Presbyterian.  We will be totally non-denominational about this, accepting tens, twenties, fifties…

In some parts of the world it is a common practice for someone to change their name after they become a Christian.  There is a story about a man who when he was baptized changed his name to “After.”  When he was asked why he replied that everything was different after he had met Jesus.

We are still in the Easter season, and this Sunday we will hear about two people who were different after they had encountered the Risen Christ.  Our text is Luke 24:13-35, and my sermon title is “Walking with a Stranger.”

The Chancel Choir will be singing at the first service, and we will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper.  We do need one more elder to help serve communion.  If you would be willing, please contact the church office.

Summer will soon be upon us.  Once again I would urge you to consider spending a week Synod School.  There are wonderful things planned for everyone, regardless of your age.  It is a chance to learn, grow, plus have a lot of fun.  For more information, click here.

Stay in One Peace,
