Weekly Contact March 30, 2017

Hello there,

Saturday night is the night!  We will be celebrating spring with the First Light Fellowship Pot Bless.  The meal starts at 5:30. Bring a side dish, dessert or treat to share.  Meat, beverages and place settings will be provided.  We are also asking everyone to bring a non-perishable food item for the food pantry.  Worship will be at 6:45 and music will be provided by various churches including Bethel A.M.E., Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist, Gospel Tabernacle, as well as our own Synergy Praise Team.  Children are more than welcome.  We will have a children’s time and Rainbow Bells during the worship.

First Light Fellowship is a ministry that works on racial reconciliation between traditionally African-American and white congregations.  I said in a sermon a few weeks ago that whenever you see Jesus around food something holy happens.  That is exactly what First Light is all about.  As the Body of Christ, if we just sit down and have a meal together something holy will happen.  I really hope you can make it.

Then Sunday is going to be an exciting morning.  We are having the Bechtold Family Singers providing all the special music.  They are a Gospel Bluegrass group and friends of Chelsey and Don McDill.  We will wrap up our “I Love to Tell the Story” sermon series with a very appropriate text as we look at Matthew 16:13-23 and the story of Jesus asking his disciples “Who do people say that I am?”

It is hard to believe but Palm Sunday is coming up the following week, so I hope you are finishing up decorating your Lenten cross.  Some have already been turned in and they are really beautiful.  If you won’t be able to be here on Palm Sunday feel free to drop your cross off at the church office anytime.

With Holy Week upon us, WE NEED YOUR HELP on Saturday, April 8, for our annual spring clean-up of the church grounds.  We want to get the parking lot, lawn and bushes cleaned of all the winter debris.  We will start at 8:30 on Saturday.  Teens and kids can help out too.  The more the merrier.

Finally, the April First Press is available on line.  Click here to go the web page where you can download it.

Stay in One Peace,
