It is March. We made it through the winter month of February and there are hints of spring, new life and resurrection. This also means things start to get busy.
We have an important Sunday coming up this week as we celebrate the Gifts of Women. Our text is Luke 10:38-42, the story of sisters, Mary and Martha. Barb Mineart and Chelsea McDill will be sharing their thoughts during the sermon time. Jan McMurray will be doing the children’s time. A women’s chorus will sing an anthem. Other women will be participating as liturgists, and at the first service the Presbyterian Women will announce their honorary membership award.
Looking ahead there are some things we would like you to mark on your calendar and some things you need sign up for. If you are interested in providing a spring flower (a tulip, a lily or a hyacinth) to decorate the sanctuary on Easter Sunday morning, there will be a tear out form in Sunday’s bulletin, or you can call the church office. The deadline is March 14th a week from Monday and the cost is $15 per plant.
Please mark your calendar to lend a hand on our Spring Clean-up Day Saturday, March 19th. That’s the Saturday before Palm Sunday. We would like to get the grounds all cleaned up of the winter dirt and debris before Easter. We will start at 9:00 that morning. Bring rakes, shovels, blowers, anything you can think of to get things spruced up.
Our Maundy Thursday celebration is going to be a bit different this year. It will be an Agape Dinner where worship, prayers, music and reflection are incorporated into a meal we share together. It will culminate with the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. We will provide salad, bread, soup and beverages. We are asking you to bring a dessert to share, as well as sign up in the sanctuary if you are planning on attending, or you can call the church office. The date is March 24th.
Stay in One Peace,
