Weekly Contact– March 28, 2013

Hello there,

First off, the April First Press is available on the church’s website.  Paper copies are available in various locations around the church, or you can download by clicking here.

Today is Maundy Thursday, and we will be celebrating the last time Jesus sat at table with his disciples.  There will be a communion service in the sanctuary, this evening at 6:30.  Tomorrow is Good Friday and we will have a communion service at 1:00 in the Chapel.  We will be having a children’s Easter party on Saturday morning, starting at 10:00.  All preschool and elementary age children are invited, and they should be accompanied by an adult.

Sunday, we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord!  It is always a wonderful morning that should not be missed.  The Chancel Choir will be singing, of course, with bells and trumpet at the first service.  My text is John 20:1-18, and my sermon title is “Out of the Darkness!”

To get into the spirit of the next few days, there is a little video that has been around for a while entitled “Sunday’s Coming.”  I have used it in worship, but it is only about three minutes long and worth watching again.  You can watch it on YouTube by clicking here.

Looking ahead to April, there are a bunch of things going on, so be sure to read your First Press.  I do want to point out a change in the communion schedule.  Normally we have communion on the first Sunday of the month.  However, the first Sunday in April will be Youth Sunday.  So we have rescheduled communion for April 28th, when the confirmation class will join.  Then in May we will have it on the 19th, which is Pentecost Sunday.

I hope to see you on Sunday, but if you have to be away have a very Blessed Easter.

Stay in One Peace!

Howard
