Weekly Contact- March 12, 2015

Hello there,

We have a special Sunday coming up celebrating the gifts of women.  It will be continuing our Lenten series focusing on with “Things God does for Love: Family.”  A number of women from our congregation will be leading worship, including the meditation from three generations of Pumroy women, Abby, Marta and Payton.  There will be the annual Presbyterian Women award.  It is always a closely guarded secret as to who the recipients might be.  And at the first service a women’s chorus will provide the special music.

Starting this week, we are taking orders for spring flowers to decorate our sanctuary for Easter Sunday.

Mark your calendar now for some upcoming events.  On Saturday, March 28th we are having a spring clean up to get the grounds in good shape for Holy Week.  We will start at 9:00 a.m.  Bring rakes, brooms, shovels, anything you might need to get the job done.

And on Maundy Thursday, April 2nd, we will be having a special soup supper, Seder-Communion celebration.  This will be in the social room and we will go through the traditional Seder or Passover meal and learn its connection with the Last Supper and the sacrament of Holy Communion.   The soup supper will start at 6:00 and the celebration at 6:45.  We are looking for a number as to how much to prepare.  Reservation are not required, but appreciated.  Call the church office if you are planning on attending.

Finally, Lent is the season  when we focus on One Great Hour of Sharing.  This offering goes to helping with disaster relief, hunger programs and self development of people.  Fish banks are available as well as special envelopes.  Please give generously to those in need.

Stay in One Peace,

Howard
