Hello there,
First off, the March First Press has been printed up, but we are having some trouble uploading it on to the website. Usually I embed a link on these notes, so I will be sending out another one when we fix the website. If you need a copy before then, contact the church office at [email protected] and we can send you one. Paper copies are available in various locations around the church building.
In worship on Sunday morning, we are not having a “Children’s Time,” but a “Parent’s Time” instead. You will have to come to see what that is about. The Chancel Choir is singing in the first service. I am preaching on Exodus 20:1-5 and John 2:13-22. My sermon title is “System Crash.”
On Sunday afternoon at 3:00, jazz saxophonist, Ray Blue, will be putting on a concert in our sanctuary. Ray has been with us many times in the past and has a very mellow jazz sound. He will be accompanied by Dick Watson on piano. Dick is a well-known local jazz musician, often appearing at the Lighthouse restaurant, down on Mt. Vernon Rd. It is a great musical combination and I know you will enjoy it. Be sure to spread the word and invite others. There is no admission fee, but a free will offering will be collected.
Next Sunday, March 11, daylight savings time begins. This means we “spring forward” and set our clocks ahead one hour. Normally that would mean we would lose an hour’s sleep, but we would like to help with that. So, we will be having one service at 10:00 rather than 9:00, to give you a little extra time in the morning. Following the service there will be a potato bar lunch, featuring baked potatoes with all sorts of yummy toppings. So plan on a little time adjustment, a good worship service, followed up with something delicious.
Finally, the catalogues from Synod School have arrived. The dates are July 22-27 this year. This is a wonderful opportunity for the entire family to spend a week having lots of fun, learning wonderful things, and growing spiritually. There are programs for children and youth, and all sorts of adult classes on topics ranging from ballroom dancing to estate planning to an introduction to the New Testament to yoga to drawing. Scholarship funds are available. If you would like to see a catalogue or more information, contact one of the pastors.
Stay in One Peace,
Howard
