Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and to all the men who have loved, nurtured and cared for us, whether we are genetically connected to them or not.
It has been a good week. We have been working in cooperation with Echo Hill Presbyterian and Camp Wyoming for an outstanding Vacation Bible School. Thank you to all who have been involved in that. And I would urge you to come to church on Sunday as we will be showing a video highlighting some of the good stuff that went on.
There are other things happening on Sunday that you don’t want to miss. The Men’s Chorus will be singing, and I will be preaching on 1 Kings 19:1-15, and my sermon title is “The Sound of Silence.”
After worship I invite you to join me in the chapel for the first of two conversations focused on Dr. Mark Achtemeier’s book The Bible’s YES to Same Sex Marriage. This is a topic that many consider controversial, but I would encourage you to come for a thoughtful and meaningful conversation.
You are also invited to join Judy and I next Wednesday, the 22nd, for “Pizza and Painting with the Pastor.” We will once again be playing around with watercolors as we eat pizza and have some fun. If you could let me know or sign up in the social room, just so I know how much pizza to order, I would appreciate it.
Finally, we are collecting juice boxes for FLY. We have been saying that this Sunday is the deadline to get those boxes in, but with Father’s day and some other circumstances, we thought it would be best to wait another week until the 26th. So if you have not picked up any juice boxes yet, you have a little more time.
Keep cool out there and stay in One Peace,
