Hello There,
We have a busy weekend coming up, and I want to remind you of two events on this coming Saturday, that I mentioned last week, but want to underscore again. The first is a time of music, worship and celebration for Marion Cares starting at 3:00 and going until 6:00, as the celebrate ten years of serving needy children in our community. A freewill offering will be received and you will be able to buy refreshments.
Then, starting at 5:30 on Saturday, First Light Christian Ministries is having a Barbecue Feast over at Hus Presbyterian Church (2808 Schaeffer Drive, SW. Cedar Rapids). First Light is the group that had a pot bless in our church back in April, and those who attended had a marvelous time. First Light’s mission is rather simple: let’s get Christians of all races eating together and worshiping together. So they are having barbecued ribs and chicken, which I promise will be absolutely delicious. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass. After the delicious meal there will be an inspiring worship service with some fantastic gospel music starting at 6:45.
Our Sunday morning service will be a special time the youth, under the direction of our youth director Abbie Parker, will be leading worship and telling the story of their recent mission trips. We also have Connie Peake and her granddaughters providing special music. It should be a great morning.
Pastor Beth leaves early tomorrow morning with a team from our Methodist friends across the street. They will be spending a week down in Haiti, doing visitation and other projects. Let’s keep the whole team in our prayers.
Stay in One Peace,
Howard
