Weekly Contact – July 19, 2018

Hello there!

And Merry Christmas!!  We are having our annual Christmas in July brunch this Sunday, following worship.  So don we now our gay apparel and let’s show up hungry because there will be delicious breakfast casseroles, cinnamon buns and Christmas cookies.  Donations will benefit Operation Christmas Child.

While we are celebrating our high school youth will be in St. Louis, on their way to Marvel, AR.  They will be spending a week down there on their mission trip.  They are teaming up with Youthworks, an organization that provides service opportunities for teenagers.  They will be working with a VBS program and helping out with some home repairs for needy individuals.  Let’s keep them in our prayers.

I will be continuing my “One in Christ” sermon series on the Epistle to the Ephesians.  This Sunday my text will be 2:11-22, and my title “One in Christ – Welcomed.”  Keelyn Kanz will be singing a solo and it is always a blessing when she sings.

Once again we are helping Marion Cares with their annual backpack drive.  Here is your chance to help a kid who needs a little extra assistance to get by.  In back of our sanctuary, on a card table, are blue slips with lists of school supplies.  If you could stop by, pick up a slip, and then go buy a backpack and fill it with those supplies, well, that would be fantastic.  These backpacks need to be turned in by July 29th; that’s a week from Sunday.

Finally, mark your calendar for Sunday, August 5th when we will be having our church picnic out at Hanna Park.  It will be following worship and we will sit down to eat at around 11:30.  So you can go home and change if you want to.  Meat, drink, and table service will be provided.  All you need to bring is a dish to pass.  It will be a great fun!

Stay in One Peace,

Howard
