The senior high youth, along with Pastor Beth, Abbie Parker and Jon Bogert have been off in Oklahoma on their mission trip all this week. (I mistakenly typed Nebraska last week. Sorry about that!) They are working on various projects out on a Native American reservation, but staying at Northeastern State University at Tahlequah, OK. They have been having a great time and will be getting back into town on Saturday evening. Mark your calendar for Sunday, July 30th. They will be sharing their experiences with us in worship on that morning.
This coming Sunday will be a wonderful day for us all, of course, but a very meaningful day for me personally. Clay Lowe will be baptized. Clay is the son of Nick and Cheyenne (Stahlnaker) Lowe. This is significant because years ago, I baptized Cheyenne. She grew up in our church, attending Sunday School, was part of the youth group and the 2006 confirmation class. In 2015, I had the privilege of officiating at Nick and Cheyenne’s wedding. Now, full circle, we will be baptizing little Clay. God is indeed good!
So I hope you can be there on Sunday. Sam Raiche will be singing that old favorite “Amazing Grace.” I will be preaching on Romans 8:1-11. My sermon title is “A New Mindset.”
It is hard to believe but the summer is slipping away and in just about five weeks the kids will be back in school. So, once again Marion Cares is having their backpack drive so that we can help needy children get the school supplies they need. You can pick up a supply list in the social hall on Sunday. The deadline for the backpacks is July 30. And Marion Cares is having a celebration on July 29th in the city park with music provided from area churches. They are looking for donated baked goods to help with fundraising. If you can provide individually wrapped treats, please call 377-5344
Stay in One Peace,
