I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a fun, but safe, New Year celebration. Now, the holidays are over and all those things you said you would get to after loom up before you. It’s okay. Take a deep breath and tackle it all one small step at a time.
So how are you doing on that New Year’s resolution? It seems like I have seen a number of articles this year about keeping them realistic. The one I like is “Do something new this year.” That would be a great resolution for a congregation. Each year we decide to do something new, a new ministry, a new study group, something new in worship, something new for our children and youth, something new for our shut-ins. Do you have any ideas about something new the church could do this year?
How about a resolution to volunteer a little more at church? That is a very realistic goal and this Sunday we have some great opportunities for you to keep that resolution. We will be hosting for Family Promise next week, and we need some help setting up the Mission House basement between services. We also will be taking down the Christmas decorations after the second service on Sunday. Neither of these jobs is very difficult, and if we get enough people they are usually done quickly.
We will be back to two services on Sunday. The Chancel Choir will be singing at the first service. I am preaching and my text is John 1:10-18. My sermon title is “He Lived Among Us.”
Stay in One Peace,
