Last week, the guests from Family Promise stayed in our church. For those of you who don’t know, Family Promise is a coalition of churches who provide shelter and care for families who happen to be homeless. We do it four times a year. Our church becomes their home for a whole week. If you want more information about Family Promise, click here. Anyway yesterday, I received the following e-mail:
My name is J**** and I recently had the privilege to stay at your wonderful church through the Family Promise organization. I am writing this to express my gratitude towards the wonderful staff, volunteers and helpers I was able to meet and talk with during my families stay. The volunteers were amazing with my son C***** even though sometimes he can be a handful. The food was delicious and the volunteers were always friendly, helping, giving and made a family who’s been through an awful lot feel comfortable and relaxed. I can’t thank you enough and I hope this reaches the volunteers who made this happen. You will always be in our thoughts and I wish you nothing but the absolute best.
Thank you again for everything…
Isn’t that amazing?! We don’t do it for thanks or praise. We do it because there are children in our community who don’t know where they are going to sleep tonight, and as followers of Jesus Christ, that bothers us. But even so, it is nice to realize we are making a difference in someone’s life. So THANK YOU to all who had a part in this, especially to those who spent time with this family. God bless you all!
The Cherub choir is singing in the first service on Sunday. That is always a blessing. I am preaching on John 1:29-42 and my sermon title is “What are you looking for?”
Stay in One Peace,
