Weekly Contact- February 28, 2019

Hello there,

First off, I received word last night that Pastor Beth made it safely to Virginia.  We wish her all the best as she begins this new chapter in her life.  Our loss is a huge gain to Green Acres Presbyterian Church.

This Sunday will be a good one.  The Chancel choir is singing at the first service.  It is Transfiguration Sunday, when we focus on the story of our Lord revealing his glory before he travels to Jerusalem.  My texts will be Exodus 34:29-35 and Luke 9:28-36.  My sermon title is “Behind the Curtain.”

Transfiguration Sunday is always the last Sunday before Lent, which means that Ash Wednesday is coming up next week.  You REALLY need to come to the Ash Wednesday service this year.  I have been working with Brent and Dianna England and our children to offer a unique worship experience.   Rather than listening to a sermon, the children invite you to come up to six different worship stations, all based around the 23rd Psalm, where you can touch, feel, and taste on God’s lovingkindness.  It will be a hands-on experiential service that will set just the right tone as we move into the season of Lent.

Finally, the March edition of the First Press is available.  You may click here to download, or pick up a paper copy around the church building.

Stay in One Peace,

Howard
