Weekly Contact – February 21, 2019

Hello there,

As I have said before, we have a bittersweet Sunday coming up.  This will be Pastor Beth’s last time worshipping with us as she will be leaving to accept the call as pastor of the Green Acres Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth, VA.  She will be preaching on Philippians 1:3-6, 9-11 and her sermon title is “I Thank God For You.”  The Chancel Choir will be singing and the children have prepared a special Children’s Time for Pastor Beth.  Following the service there will be reception down in the Social Room where you will get the chance to thank her for all she has done over the last 8 years.

Because of Pastor Beth’s reception there will be only one service at 9:00 this Sunday the 24th.

Then you are invited back to the sanctuary at 3:00 on Sunday afternoon for a jazz concert, featuring Ray Blue on saxophone and Hilliard Greene on bass.  It is always good to hear Ray.  There is no charge for this concert but a free will offering will be collected.

We all are about fed up with winter, but I would close with a reminder. The snow banks at the end of driveways are quite high in many places.  Please drive very carefully.  It is very easy for a child or a pet to dart out in front of a car and because of the snow bank the drive is unable to see them.  Go slow and pay close attention.

Stay in One Peace,

Howard
