Weekly Contact–August 3, 2017

Hello there,

Pastor Beth should be returning tomorrow from her week long mission trip to Haiti.  She went with a team from the First United Methodist Church of Marion going out into villages, visiting people and sharing God’s love.  She will be sharing her experiences in an adult forum on September 10th.  Keep her at the team in your prayers for a safe trip home.

Thank you to all who donated to the Marion Cares backpack project.  Twenty-five packs were picked up this week and they will make a big difference to some needy children.

This Sunday, Karen Pierce will be playing here hammer dulcimer.  It is always a treat to hear her play. We will be celebrating the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, and I will be preaching on Genesis 32:22-32.  My sermon title is “Chutzpah and the Covenant.”

Following the service there will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in our children and youth Christian education programs from LOGOS to Sunday School.  You are invited to meet with Pastor Beth and the Christian Education committee down in the chapel, sharing your thoughts and ideas.

Finally, we are look for a few people with some music skills.  First off, we need someone to direct the Chancel Bell Choir, our adult handbell choir.  Then we would also like to establish a “pool” of volunteer pianists willing to periodically play with our Praise Team.  If you would like to learn more, or have ideas, kindly contact anyone on the Personnel Committee, which is: Kari Raiche, Nancy Jennings, John Foster, Kim Langley, or Brent England, Pastor Beth and myself.  Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Stay in One Peace,

Howard
