Weekly Contact- August 11, 2016
Hello there,
This coming Sunday the youth under Abbie Parker will be leading our worship service. The senior highs will be sharing some of their experiences on their mission trip to Kansas City. The middle school youth will be reporting on some of the things that happened this week as they worked with the Mission of Hope and the Matthew 25 organizations. Their scripture text is 1 John 4:7-5:4, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God…” It should be a great Sunday. You won’t want to miss it.
There are some other things coming up that you won’t want to miss. On the following Sunday, August 21st, we are offering training to those who are interested in being a Barney. Barnabas was the disciple who introduced Paul to the early church, and at FPC Marion we use a personal, one-on-one approach to welcome new members into our congregation. We call these welcoming friends “Barneys” after Barnabas. If you are interested, join us down in the chapel after worship.
And mark your calendar for Sunday, August 28th, we are having an all-church picnic at Thomas Park following worship.
Finally, next week will be the last week of FLY, and we can use some help. Some of the volunteers are educators or college kids and need to be back at school, so we are a bit short handed.
Stay in One Peace,
Howard
