Weekly Contact- August 10, 2017
Hello there,
There is a line from the book and movie “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” that goes, “Everything will be all right in the end, so if it is not all right it is not the end.” Perhaps that is the best way to summarize the story of Joseph and his brothers. There are more chapters devoted to his story in the book of Genesis than there are about his father, Jacob, his grandfather, Isaac, or his great-grandfather, Abraham. His story is a rocky one with many ups and downs along the way, but in the end it does indeed turn out to be more than all right. I will be focusing on Joseph this Sunday in my sermon. The text is Genesis 37:1-28 and my sermon title is “Dream Power.” Jess Kozloski will be providing the special music.
Late last Friday night, Pastor Beth returned safely from a very successful week long mission trip to Haiti. She went with a team from the First United Methodist Church, across the street. They will be giving a report on Sunday night at 6:00, if you would like to hear about it. Beth will be making her own presentation in a few weeks on Sunday, September 10th between services in the chapel.
Finally, The Personnel Committee is looking for your assistance. We will be going back to two services soon, so we need someone to play piano in the praise band in the second service. We are hoping we can get together a pool of volunteers. If you would be interested or have some ideas contact one of the pastors or members of the Personnel committee; Kari Raiche, Brent England, John Foster, and Kim Langley.
Stay in One Peace,
Howard
