Hello there,
Garrison Keillor on the radio show “Prairie Home Companion” always begins his monologue with the line “Well, it’s been a quiet week in Lake Woebegone, my home town…” After all the excitement starting with Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and then Easter, plus the number of recent funerals, this has been a quiet week at FPC Marion… And thank God for that.
The Middle School Bells, the Cherub Choir and the Rainbow Bells will all bring their joy to our first worship service on Sunday. Pastor Beth is preaching. Her text is John 20:19-31.
The John text is about Doubting Thomas. I recently came across this quote by Frederick Buechner from his book Wishful Thinking. He said, “Whether your faith is that there is a God or that there is not a God, if you don’t have any doubts you are either kidding yourself or asleep. Doubts are the ants in the pants of faith. They keep it awake and moving.” I like that. From time to time we all have ants in our faith pants. It is not always comfortable, but it keeps us awake.
So stay awake and in One Peace,
Howard
