Weekly Contact- April 4, 2019

Hello there,

There is a lot going on over the next few weeks, so please scroll down and read this whole message.

First of all, this coming Saturday, April 6, there will be the “Joyful Noises” concert to benefit Family Promise.  It will be at St. Paul’s Methodist church in Cedar Rapids.  A silent auction begins at 6:00, with the concert at 7:00. Some top notch local musicians will be performing.  Starting April 15th, we will be teaming up with Echo Hill Presbyterian Church to host a family that is homeless through the Family Promise ministry.  We need some help with this.  If you are interested, contact Jean Bailey or Ricki Machula.

THIS SUNDAY WILL BE A GOOD ONE! Yes, I am shouting, and yes, I say something like that every week.  But this week will be special.  We have the Middle School Bells playing at the 9:00 service.  We also have the K-5 LOGOS Youth who will be singing some fun Camp Wyoming songs.  I am preaching on Isaiah 43:16-21 and John 12:1-8.  My sermon title is “Do a New Thing.”

In between services on Sunday, the Session is hosting another informational meeting regarding the progress that is being made for this transitional period.  Bring your questions and concerns.  This will be held down in the chapel.

On Saturday, April 13th starting at 8:30 we will be having our spring clean up day, for the church property.  We will rake up the leaves and trash, sweep up the sand and grit and generally get the grounds in good shape for Easter.  We need your help, even if you can only spare an hour.  Bring blowers, rakes, brooms, shovels and whatever else you think to get things spruced up.  If it rains we will reschedule for Saturday, April 20th.

Holy Week is coming up.  Here are the services:

April 14th Palm Sunday, regular services at 9:00 and 11:00

April 18th Maundy Thursday, Communion Service at 6:00 in the sanctuary

April 19th Good Friday, Communion Service at 1:00 in the Chapel

April 21st Easter Sunday, ONE SERVICE AT 10:00

On April 28th we will have the Gifts of Women Sunday, and it also will be only one service at 10:00.  The Rev. Connie Peake will be preaching.

It is a busy time of year, but that means a lot of good stuff is going on.  With all that is happening do your best to stay in One Peace.
