Well we are coming down to the end of April. May is upon us with school winding down, graduations, and thinking about summer. So, mark your calendar now for Sunday, June 18. We will be celebrating our 175th anniversary. We will be having a special outdoor worship service at 9:00 at the location of our original church building which is currently the Sheets, Forest, and Draper Insurance building at 610 10th St. (Across the street from the Heritage Center and the town square. We will have a Gospel Blue Grass band providing the music, and I will be preaching. Following the worship service, we will be having a catered church picnic over in depot pavilion. We are really excited about celebrating our rich historical heritage.
You will be hearing more about this over the next few weeks. However, starting now we are looking for additions to our memory board down in the social room. You can write a note about something in this church that inspires you, or a fond memory you have, or a particular person that perhaps changed your life. You also can bring old pictures, or bulletins, or Sunday School papers and memorabilia. If you do want these items back, be sure to put your name on them.
We are also having new church t-shirts made up with our 175th logo. We also plan of offering polo style shirts with a collar, for those who are interested. We have been contacting interns and previous pastors, as well as one time members who have moved away. We have other plans in the works so stay tuned.
This will be a good Sunday. The Chancel Bells will be playing in the first service. I am preaching on Luke 24:13-35, which is the story of the walk to Emmaus. My sermon title is “See Your Way.”
Stay in One Peace,
