Hello there,
It looks like spring has finally arrived and I think we are all more than ready for it. I hope you get a chance to get outdoors and enjoy this wonderful weather. And it looks like we are all set for our spring clean-up on Saturday morning starting at 8:30. We will get the church grounds, including the parking lot, swept and raked clean. There will also be a team in the kitchen, sorting and cleaning. So help us out for a few hours on Saturday morning. The more the merrier.
I am doing well on my recovery from knee surgery, but not quite back at 100%. We are all very grateful to Rev. Connie Peake who filled in our pulpit for the last two weeks. This Sunday, Pastor Beth will be preaching this coming Sunday. Her text is John 21:1-19, the story of the risen Christ telling Peter to “feed my sheep.” It will be a nice tie-in to Connie’s two sermons on the Good Shepherd.
Also this Sunday we are delighted to have with us the new director of Family Promise, John Derryberry. He will be presenting an adult forum in the chapel between services. Family Promise is a ministry that provides housing for families who are homeless. We were deeply involved in this two years ago, before they ran into some organizational problems. We are now teaming up with Echo Hill Presbyterian Church to support them as they host families. Mr. Derryberry will be with us to give us an update on how things are going. There will also be a training meeting for anyone interested in volunteering, next Wednesday, May 2, at 5:30. Please come and learn how you can be a part of this ministry making a real difference in the lives of those who need it the most.
Finally, the May First Press is available. To download a pdf, click here. Paper copies are available in numerous locations around the church building.
Stay in One Peace,
Howard
