Once again I want to say thank you to all of you for your prayers, cards, goodies, well wishes and support as I recover from the first of my knee replacement surgeries. I am improving each day, stronger, more flexible, and less pain, but I still tire easily and not quite up to speed. And I am very grateful to all those who have been pitching in to cover all that needs to be done. We are blessed to have so many willing and competent people to step in and see that everything is taken care of.
Pastor Beth and the Presbytery Mission team have been having a good week in Houston, helping with hurricane recovery. They should be back in Marion on Saturday evening.
So again this Sunday, the Rev. Dr. Connie Peak will be preaching. Her text is John 10:11-18 and her sermon title is “The Good Shepherd.” The Chancel Bells will be providing the special music in the first service.
There are a few events coming up that I would remind you of. First, on Saturday, First Light Christian Fellowship will hold another of their “Potbless” events at the River of Life Church in Cedar Rapids. Bring a dish to share; meat will be provided. The meal starts at 5:00 followed by worship at 6:00.
Meanwhile, there will be a Joyful Noises Concert benefitting the Family Promise ministry at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids on Saturday. The Silent Auction begins at 6:00 and the concert at 7:00. A freewill offering will be received.
Our youth are putting on a fundraiser next Wednesday, April 25th at the Marion Pizza Ranch from 4:30 to 8:00. A portion of all sales and all your generous tips will go towards their summer mission trips. So stop by for supper and support our youth.
Finally, don’t forget our Spring Clean-up, next Saturday, April 28th, starting at 8:30 a.m. We will be working to rid the church grounds of winter grime. So please come help for a couple of hours, raking, trimming, sweeping and generally getting things looking good. Bring rakes, brooms, blowers, etc. Rain date is May 5.
Stay in One Peace,
