Weekly Contact–April 17, 2014

Hello there!

I write this on Maundy Thursday, so called because of the Latin phrase: Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos.  In English:  “A new commandment I give unto you that you love one another as I have loved you.”

This weekend we celebrate how much God loved us.  So come and join us as we worship.  Tonight at 6:30 we have a Maundy Thursday communion service.  The chancel choir will be singing.  Pastor Nancy Redman will be preaching.  Her text is John 13:1-17, 31-35, and her sermon title is “We Remember.”

Tomorrow, there will be a Good Friday communion service in the chapel.  Pastor Beth is leading that service.

Saturday morning is our annual Children’s Easter party and egg hunt.  It begins at 10:00.  Pre-school and grade school up to 5th grade are invited.  Friends are most welcome.  So come and have some fun.

Sunday, of course, is our big day.  Chancel choir with trumpet and drum at the 9:00 service.  I will be picking up where we left off last Sunday, preaching on Matthew 27:57 to 28:10.  My sermon title is “A False Sense of Security.”  Join us for a day of celebration and joy as we proclaim that Christ is risen indeed!

The celebration will continue on to the next week.  Sunday, April 27, will be Holy Hilarity Sunday.  It will be a time for laughter and fun.  The Confirmation class will be welcomed into full membership.  Some fun music is planned.  Send me your jokes, or be prepared to share your jokes during worship.  Wear bright clothes (Hawaiian shirts, perhaps?) loud ties and be prepared to rejoice in the Lord.

Stay in One Peace,

Howard
