The Chancel Choir sings for our traditional services, accompanied by Marilyn Mark. Chancel Choir’s repertoire includes classical, gospel and spiritual music, as well as modern arrangements. The choir also provides extra music during special seasons of the church year, such as Advent, Lent and Easter. New members are always welcome; interested persons may want to observe one of the practices, which are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 in the second-floor choir room.
The Praise Team, consisting of instrumentalists and singers, energizes the Synergy Service. Director Sam Raiche provides the anchor for our worship in song. Singers help lead the congregation and the music is backed by piano, bass guitar, clavinova and drums. The Praise Team rehearses in the Sanctuary prior to the service they will be leading.
We are blessed with a 4 octave set of hand bells, which add greatly to worship through music. Under the direction of Dr. Timothy Hein, our adult Chancel Bells play about once a month usually during the more traditional service. Practices are held on Monday evenings at 6:45 in the Bell Room on the second floor of the church. Adults interested in playing bells are welcome.
A Youth Bell Choir, directed by Louise White, is offered as part of the Wednesday night, Refuel, program and they play for special occasions such as Advent or Youth Sunday service.
Children and Music
A regular part of our Wednesday night Refuel youth program is teaching worship skills to children. On special occasions, they may participate in the musical portion of our worship services. Our youth are very enthusiastic making a joyful noise unto the Lord! In addition to singing, they might use rhythm instruments or bells. Middle school youth also have the opportunity to play in a hand bell group.
We also are blessed with some talented musicians in our congregation who provide music as soloists and in small groups. Their talents are used for the prelude, introit and offertory in a worship service. During the summer, special music is provided by guest musicians from our congregation and the broader community.
