First Press – January 9, 2020
Dear Members and Friends,
Nancy Redmond leaves for several weeks of vacation Monday. Her presence will be missed here at church, in worship leadership, and in her home and hospital visiting.
A PLACE FOR YOU TO DO MINISTRY
The next most important item is to emphasize how you can support the ministry with children and youth through the Refuel program. First, come and eat dinner at 7 p.m. It is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships with children and youth. If you eat earlier, come and join the conversation.
The second way to support is by helping to prepare dinner or to clean up after dinner. A third way is to help teach one of the classes that take place from 6 to 7.
Call the church at 319-377-7309 to indicate you’ll be participating at one of the three levels and someone from Refuel will be in touch with you.
CARING FOR THE MINISTRIES OF THE CONGREGATION
One of the ways we are all involved in the ministries of First Presbyterian Church is financial. Here is the financial picture as of today.
The initial budget proposal called for the following.
Income: $399,030
Expenses: $393,932
We have received pledges for 2020 totaling $291,512. This means our anticipated income is $102,420 short of anticipated expenses. Session is having a called meeting this Monday to discuss, among other items, our financial picture.
A CONUINUING ADULT CLASS
At the end of the Spirituality of Aging class in December, participants wanted to continue meeting on related topics. This class resumes this Sunday. This week and the next few weeks will focus on Spirituality and Health Care. We will meet in the Chapel at 10:15.
With gratitude,
Terry
