Dear Members and Friends,
Good Friday worship begins at noon today and can be seen on Facebook Live. It will be a Prayer of Lament and will be interactive. Good Friday asks us to be emotionally available to Jesus’ suffering and that might bring us closer to our own feelings during this Covid-19 pandemic and economic crisis. As a reminder and to help you prepare, Good Friday worship may be difficult for some. I have had times when my pain was so intense I could not stay through Good Friday worship. However, it might be very helpful to share this experience together, which is why Facebook Live can be a resource. We can simultaneously experience the suffering and interact in a way to give each other support.

Prayer
ETERNAL GOD, YOUR SON CRIED OUT IN ANGUISH FROM THE CROSS, AND YOU DELIVERED HIM. DO NOT HIDE YOUR FACE FROM THOSE WHO CRY OUT TO YOU. BY HIS DEATH AND RESURRECTION BRING LIFE WHERE THERE IS DEATH: FEED THE HUNGRY, STRENGTHEN THE WEAK, MAKE WHOLE THOSE WHO SUFFER, AND BREAK THE CHAINS OF OPPRESSION, THAT ALL PEOPLE MAY REJOICE IN YOUR SAVING DEEDS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, OUR SAVIOR AND LORD.

Listen for words like these in prayers today and again Sunday: bless, send, keep, have mercy, comfort, bind the wounded, show, shine, give, take, transform, strengthen, raise, hold back, look upon, be close, burn in the hearts, be with, make, bring, lead, deepen, come, help, bring, infuse, inaugurate, restore, heal, and fill.

I will send you the bulletin for Easter Sunday in tomorrow’s Pastoral Letter.
With gratitude,
