First off, let me add to the many other reminders you are getting to set your clocks back one hour before you go to sleep Saturday evening. Enjoy an extra hour of sleep and join us for worship on time Sunday morning.
We are continuing our sermon series on every day heroes. This Sunday I will be preaching on the little big man named Zacchaeus. My text is Luke 19:1-10. The Chancel Bells will be providing our special music in the first service and we will be celebrating the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. So come to the feast.
We have a number of other things going on here at FPC. To wrap up our 175th anniversary celebration, the committee has a special offer. They have taken some of my watercolor paintings that have been used for bulletin covers over the last few years and turned them into a lovely greeting cards. These cards will be on sale in the social room between services starting this Sunday. They will be available on Sundays following, but supplies are limited. Once they are sold out, they are gone. So don’t wait to get the designs you want. Proceeds from these cards will help defray the cost of our 175th celebration.
All veterans are invited to our Wednesday evening LOGOS supper, next week on the 8th, at 6:30 in the social room. This is always a special event for our kids. If you can wear or bring your uniform, that would be great. If you are interested in coming, please RSVP to Pastor Beth.
We need your help a week from Saturday on the 11th starting at 9:00. We will be having our fall clean up day here on the church grounds. We want to rake up the leaves and trash before the snow falls. So bring rakes, blowers, vacuums, and whatever else you think will do the job. The more show up the quicker we get it all done. So even if you can only come for an hour, we would greatly appreciate your help. If it is raining, we will postpone to the 18th.
On Sunday, November 12th we will have a meeting of the congregation to elect officers. I want to thank all who have agreed to serve. The slate the nominating committee is presenting is as follows:
Elders: John Foster- 2nd term, Scott Schaub- 2nd term, Chris Knudsen, Rich Niccolls, Andrea Hayes- youth elder
Deacons: Ann Klaassen- 2nd term, Arloene Glessner, Chuck Glessner, Ken McMurray
Finally, the Presbyterian Women are looking for nominations for the 2018 Honorary Life Membership award. This is a way to honor anyone, woman, man or child, in our congregation who has served our church faithfully and well. If there is someone who you think deserves such recognition, contact Jeanne Simmons.
Stay in One Peace,
