As it is every year, this is a busy time. I hope you are finding some peace and joy in the middle of all the hustle.
It will be a wonderful Sunday for worship. The music at the first service will be wonderful. We will have a guest trombonist, Todd Schendel. Todd has played for us before and has a beautiful mellow tone that is just outstanding. If yo…u haven’t heard Todd before, you are in for a real treat. The “Mostly Youth Praise Band” will play a piece that from what I hear will be a lot of fun. And the Cherub Choir will be singing as well. Pastor Beth is preaching. Her texts are James 5:7-10, and Isaiah 35:1-10. Her sermon title is “Loading, Please Wait.”
Between services we will have the annual Cookie Walk. The youth will have baked tons of goodies and you can take home a box of yummy treats. Donations are accepted and the proceeds will benefit youth mission trips.
This is also the Sunday to bring in your Angel Tree gifts. Please have them wrapped with the paper angel attached to them.
The music you will hear in the morning worship is to coax you to attend the children and youth Christmas Program. It will be at 6:00 up in the sanctuary, followed by a dessert “potluck” down in the social room. Bring a treat to share. You may also bring your Angel Tree gift to the children’s program. There will be a point in the program when the gifts will be collected and “given” to baby Jesus.
The Caring for Aging Loved Ones support group will also be meeting Sunday evening at 5:00.
Finally, you have probably seen lists of goofy bloopers that have appeared in church bulletins over the year. However, sometimes such blunders speak truth. In one Christmas bulletin it read “And the Word became flesh and swelled among us,” rather than “dwelled among us.” Indeed, that is at the heart of Christmas, for the Word of God became a little thing but swelled and swelled until the entire world was changed forever.
Stay in One Peace,
