I hope you have been having a good summer so far. The weather this week has been just about perfect. I just wish there was some way we could store up even a few minutes and use them next February when the wind chill is below zero.
There are some good things coming up this Sunday. The youth will be reporting on their recent mission trips during the worship. They will also be providing the special music. And we have a baptism; Penny Goldberg, daughter of Dave and Katie Goldberg, and granddaughter of Sherry Goldberg will be baptized. That is always a special moment in the life of the church.
After worship, Roger Dana will be continuing the second part of his two week series “God’s role in ‘The Great Math Mystery.’” This is a fascinating series considering some great questions such as “Why are we here?” and “What is the role of God in the creation of the universe?” Even if you missed last week, I am certain you will get a lot out of this week’s discussion.
And you and your family are invited to a wonderful picnic/potluck event at the English Pavilion in Thomas Park, following the service. We will be providing Maid-Rite sandwiches, table service and beverages. All we are asking is for you to bring a dish to pass. The splash pad and playground will be available for the kids. We plan on eating around 11:15, if you would like to go home and change. But you do have my permission to come to worship on Sunday morning in appropriate picnic attire.
Finally, Sunday is the deadline for our Marion Cares backpack project. If you haven’t filled up a backpack with school supplies and brought it to the church you need to do so by then.
Stay in One Peace,
