Now, you may be a bit puzzled because normally these weekly contact posts come out on Thursday. I wanted you to get this today to remind you of our special event, tomorrow evening on Maundy Thursday. At 6:00, we will be having a soup supper. We will be providing soup and beverages. If your last name begins with A to M, we would like you to bring a salad. If it begins with N to Z we are asking you to bring a dessert. At 6:45 we will be celebrating a traditional Jewish Seder or Passover. This is the last meal that Jesus ate with his disciples on the night before his betrayal, arrest and crucifixion. Experiencing the Seder will help us better understand our Christian sacrament of Holy Communion. We have been asking for reservations, but don’t worry. I am certain there will be enough, so please come, for the whole evening, or just for the Seder-Communion celebration.
On Good Friday we will be having a communion service at 1:00 in the chapel.
Pre-school and elementary age children are invited, with a parent or responsible adult, to our annual Easter Party on Saturday morning at 10:00. Of course, friends are welcome to this fun event.
Sunday is the big celebration. For the first service, the Chancel Choir has prepared a mini-cantata, with a number of beautiful anthems. The music will be interspersed throughout the entire worship service. It will be a great way to proclaim the great news that Christ is risen. At our Synergy service the praise teams is preparing traditional Easter songs, but with a beat. At both services I will be preaching on John 19:32 through 20:18. My sermon title is, “What’s the Story?”
Finally, the April First Press is available. You may download it by clicking here. Paper copies are available at various locations around the church building.
Have a Blessed Easter celebration and stay in One Peace!
