Our Chancel Choir is under the direction of our Music Director, Laurel Klinkenberg. They enrich our traditional service at 9:00. Their repertoire varies from classical to gospel to spirituals to modern composers. They provide extra blessings during special seasons of the church year, such as Advent, Lent and Easter, with chorale and cantatas. At other times smaller ensembles lead us in praise during worship. Members of the choir care deeply for one another, but they are always ready to welcome new members. Join them for rehearsal on most Wednesday evenings at 7:15.
Our 11:45 Synergy service is energized by our talented Praise Team. Director Laurel Klinkenburg on piano, and Judy Chapman on keyboard provide the anchor for our worship in song. Usually the music is backed up with bass guitar and drums, along with some strong voices to round everything out. They rehearse in the sanctuary between services on Sunday.
We are blessed with a 4 octave set of hand bells that are put to good use under the direction of Marilyn Rambo. They are used regularly by our adult Chancel Bell Choir that plays approximately once a month in our traditional service. However from time to time other choirs have been formed with youth, or smaller ensembles have been created to work with the Chancel Choir or for special occasions. They practice on Sunday evenings at 6:30 and anyone who is interested would be most welcome.
Children and Music
A regular part of our Wednesday night LOGOS program is teaching worship skills to children. This includes leading in the musical portion of our worship services. Our Cherub Choir, under the direction of Donna Bean, sings about once a month in our traditional service. They are made up of kindergarten through second graders, and are very enthusiastic making a joyful noise unto the Lord. Other vocal groups are formed and lead in singing, usually under the direction of Marilyn Rambo. We also are blessed with some talented instrumentalists who provide music for the prelude, introit and offertory slots on a regular basis.
