Primary Responsibilities Worship leadership — including preaching, working with the music staff and worship teams in coordinating worship, administering the sacraments, and conducting weddings and funerals. Administration — overseeing a paid staff of full- and part-time employees and a large volunteer staff, providing pastoral leadership for the numerous church committees and teams, and working with the Session to ensure the effective functioning of the church program. Pastoral Care — counseling, nurturing the fellowship of the congregation, and responding as needed to people in time of crisis.
Preaching Howard has a comfortable preaching style weaving together teaching and storytelling. He believes that the preacher’s role is proclamation of the good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore he deliberately uses a positive, celebrative emphasis in his sermons. Some of his sermons are available on the Sermon page. He would welcome any feedback.
